Lavender Chicken DNA Test is an in-house DNA test for determining the presence of the Lavender allele (LAV*L) in chickens (Gallus gallus domesticus). This test requires minimal training and basic equipment. No need to ship samples to a lab, take the results in your hands!
Sample collection is easy: DNA is extracted from blood (e.g., ex-ovo blood draw) or from feathers. Result interpretation is clear: two bands indicate the presence of the LAV*L allele. (Note that this test cannot determine whether a chicken is heterozygous or homozygous for the LAV*L allele).
This is a gelPCRTM test, based on PCR and DNA gel electrophoresis. For more information on gelPCRTM tests click here.
Lavender Chicken DNA Test provides enough material for 38 tests (samples + controls). The kit includes reagents and PCR tubes. Equipment is sold separately.
The kit has been validated using chicken (Gallus gallus domesticus) samples.
