What You’ll Learn:
- How to collect samples from sheds. Less is more when it comes to extracting DNA. Roughly only 1-4 scales (~4mm worth) is enough for success.
- How to make the process is quick. Add your scale(s) to the DNA extraction buffer, push to submerge it with a toothpick, and you’re ready to test!
- How to avoid cross-contamination. Keep an organized work-bench and clean or change gloves and use a new disposable tweezer and toothpick for every sample.
